The Mountain Gardeners are holding its annual perennial plant sale on June 6, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Slow Road, near Shaw’s, in Waitsfield. All of the plants are grown locally and come from member gardens or donations from Valley residents. The Mad River Valley Community Calendar has more details at https://madrivervalley.com/event/mountain-gardeners-plant-sale/
One of the sources for plants is the Dig and Divide program. Members of the club dig up excess plants from local gardens and meet on Tuesday/Thursday mornings in May to pot them. Email the Dig and Divide coordinator, Wendy McDonough, at
Those who have containers from last year's sale (size 200 and 300 black or green pots, which are generally 6.5 and 8 inches in diameter), are asked to bring them to the Mad River Valley Welcome Center at the intersection of Routes 100 and 17. New this year, all unsold plants will be donated to and planted by Mountain Gardeners members at local schools and community organizations. Reach out to plant sale coordinator, Andrea Henderson,

"We invite you to stop by before or after your visit to the Farmers Market," said spokesperson Stephanie Venema. "The plant sale is the Mountain Gardeners' only fundraiser, which helps support the Rena Chernick Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship applications are due May 15, 2026, and can be found on our website, https://mountaingardeners.net/. Membership information and one of the chairs will be at the checkout table to answer questions for people interested in becoming a Mountain Gardeners member."
