Thank you, Dr Consenstein, for your letter in the July 16 issue of The Valley Reporter regarding Hepatitis B vaccines and parental hesitancy, and for your willingness to have a conversation. One thing I am convinced of is that all of us want the best health outcomes for our kids. The current changes coming from HHS have been triggered in part by concerns from parents whose children have suffered injuries, and even deaths, that they feel could possibly be tied to vaccines. For some reason, there hasn't been much research or follow-up regarding many of these incidents. Here are a few questions:
- Why do most European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, etc) not recommend the HepB vaccine for all newborns?
- Why is the infant mortality rate of these countries lower than the US (3.4/3.1/3.2/2.1 vs the US at 5.5 per 1,000)? Japan's infant mortality rate is 1.8, without vaccinating all infants at birth for HepB. While I understand that correlation is not causation, have there been any studies done to try and explain this odd phenomenon?
- This is from the FDA website: In three clinical studies, 434 doses of RECOMBIVAX HB, 5 mcg, were administered to 147 healthy infants and children (up to 10 years of age) who were monitored for 5 days after each dose. Do you think three trials with a total of only 147 children of ages up to 10, and monitored for five days, is sufficient evidence to recommend a vaccine for all newborns with a designation as safe and effective? Why only a five-day follow-up, especially when autoimmune and/or neurodevelopmental effects could take weeks or months to emerge?
- Why are there no studies comparing vaccinated vs unvaccinated health outcomes of children? Pharmaceutical companies, with billions of dollars available, could easily conduct such a study. Since the results could quell doubts that parents have and put an end to hesitancy, why haven't they?
- Finally, are you familiar with Dr Chris Exley? He is a professor in bioinorganic chemistry at Keele University, and leader of the Research Group on Aluminium and Silicon, He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), scientific member of the British Society of Ecological Medicine (BSEM). He is recognized as a world-renowned expert on aluminum toxicity and aluminum in the human brain. He has done extensive research showing that the aluminum in vaccines injected into an infant is taken up by immune-reactive cells and carried throughout the newborn’s body. These cells, loaded with aluminum, cross into the baby's brain. What is your response to his conclusion that vaccines containing aluminum adjuvants are highly toxic, particularly to newborns? To my knowledge, none of his work has been shown to be incorrect. Thank you again for your time.
