Evan Andrews

On May 24, Evan Andrews, senior goalie and captain of the Harwood boys’ lacrosse team recorded his 400th career save during a 5-4 win over Hartford, a team this senior class had yet to beat. Andrew's 19 saves helped end Hartford's 22-game win streak against D2 opponents that included defeating Harwood in last year's championship game.

Head coach Chris Lamonia has high praise for Evan. "He is an exceptional athlete and a truly gifted goalie whose dedication to improvement has been evident since his elementary school years. His relentless commitment to his craft and his high personal standards set him apart. He embraces the difficult journey of growth, understanding that the pain of improvement is necessary for long-term success. After last year's championship loss, no one took it harder than Evan – a testament to the level of responsibility he assumes both for himself and the team. It’s rare to see an athlete consistently push through fear of failure with such resolve. As coaches, our goal is to provide tools for success not only on the field but far beyond it. Evan has embraced those tools and embodies the values we hope all our athletes carry into life."

Assistant coach Quinn Haley added, "I first met Evan a couple of years ago when his dad asked me to shoot on him before a fall tournament, and I was immediately struck by his kindness, maturity, and enthusiasm – rare traits in such a young athlete. As a former Division I player, I don’t usually struggle in warmups, but Evan quickly made me work harder, stopping shot after shot no matter how much I dialed it up. His ability to read shooters and track the ball is truly elite. What impressed me even more than his talent was his humility and relentless drive to improve – each time I scored, he wanted to understand why and how to adjust. Evan’s work ethic rivals that of the best goalies I’ve seen at any level. As he graduates, we’re not just saying goodbye to an incredible player, but to a remarkable leader and teammate whose impact on this program will be felt for years to come.

Andrews will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute next fall where he will be studying business and management while continuing to play lacrosse. The Harwood boys’ lacrosse team are the #1 seed in the D2 playoffs and will be facing Milton in the semi-finals this week.
