GMVS Class of 2025

Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) graduated 33 seniors this past Saturday, June 7, capping off a year of academic achievement, athletic competition, and personal growth. The Class of 2025 was honored in a ceremony on campus, surrounded by family, friends, alumni, staff, and community members.

The week leading up to graduation was filled with hallmark GMVS experiences, including final exams, senior internship presentations, lacrosse playoffs, an all school prom hosted at American Flatbread, and an end of year dinner for the community. The festivities culminated with a commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 7. Graduate Timothy Howe, reflected on his last week with incredible positivity, “I had a blast this past week, I wouldn't have asked for it to end any other way.”

As is tradition at GMVS, each graduating senior took to the podium to share personal reflections. Their speeches captured the spirit of the school — stories of challenge and perseverance, of lifelong friendships formed at camps, in the dorms, and through bonds with classmates and teammates, as well as powerful connections with teachers and coaches. These young leaders are leaving GMVS ready to embrace the world, equipped with discipline, responsibility and respect for the world around them.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Governor Phil Hoff Vermont Honor Scholarship, awarded annually to a Vermont resident who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, community service, and extracurricular engagement. This year’s recipient — and also the Class of 2025 valedictorian — was Cannon Martin of Fayston, Vermont.

Also in keeping with tradition, the seniors selected their grand entrance to the ceremony. This year’s class made their arrival aboard a vintage 1936 fire truck from Speculator, New York.

Looking ahead, most graduates will pursue higher education at institutions across the United States, Canada, and Spain. Some will remain at GMVS as post-graduate students, continuing to train and compete at the highest levels of alpine ski racing.
