WindowDressers event will help folks save energy and money

WindowDressers Community Build is hosting a week-long community event where volunteers gather to assemble pre-ordered insulating window inserts to help local residents and businesses save energy and lower heating costs. It takes place November 13 to November 19 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Waitsfield United Church of Christ. It’s an opportunity for neighbors to come together, learn new skills, and build a sense of community all while keeping people’s homes, apartments, and businesses warm.

WindowDressers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings community volunteers of all economic and social situations together to improve the warmth and comfort of interior spaces, lower heating costs, and reduce carbon dioxide pollution by producing low-cost insulating window inserts that function as custom, interior-mounted storm windows.

Big Picture premiers Robillard film

Big Picture Theater hosts a screening of the film “LIBRARIANS” – a film by Kim Snyder, on November 20 at 7 p.m. Producer Janique Robillard will attend for a Q and A after the screening alongside local librarians.

“LIBRARIANS” offers a look at coordinated efforts to ban books. More importantly, it introduces viewers to the everyday and increasingly folks pushing back: the librarians who sound the alarm to both legislative and grassroots attempts to pull books from school and public libraries.

In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. Librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of White Christian Nationalism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ cry for freedom to read is a cautionary tale.

The producers are partnering with local libraries across the country to have this film screened at art house cinemas in their area.

All are welcome on November 20, 7 p.m. – tickets available at the box-office  bigpicturetheater.info
