A celebration of nature, creativity, and community featuring live music and local flavor
The opening reception for “Fluid Impressions,” the latest exhibit at the Planetary Art Institute at Camp Meade, drew an enthusiastic crowd on Friday, July 25. Art lovers from across Central Vermont gathered to celebrate the work of local artists Barrie Fisher of Waitsfield and Susie Conrad of Warren, whose vibrant explorations in distressed manipulation and digital art, watercolor, and ink are now on view through September 12, 2025.
Set against a backdrop of soft summer light and lively conversation, the evening featured a soulful live set by Pointe Noir, whose Cajun melodies perfectly complemented the flowing themes of the exhibit. Guests also enjoyed a curated wine tasting by The Local, which added a flavorful and festive touch to the night.
The artists' shared inspiration from the natural world was palpable throughout the show, as attendees lingered over layered textures, organic shapes, and delicate washes of color. Both Fisher and Conrad were present to speak with guests, offering insights into their creative process and connection to the Vermont landscape.
“We were thrilled by the turnout and the energy in the room,” said Conrad. “It felt like the art, music, and community all flowed together in such a beautiful way.” Fisher added, “It was a true celebration of nature and expression – we’re grateful to everyone who came out.”
“Fluid Impressions” is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sundays 2 to 6 p.m., and select Saturdays at the Planetary Art Institute, Camp Meade, 961 Route 2, Middlesex, VT.
